Muybridge, the deep-tech company reinventing the camera in software, today unveiled the next generation of its imaging platform at IBC2026 in Amsterdam. For decades, camera innovation meant better hardware in the same fixed position. Muybridge shifts innovation to software, following a series of breakthroughs in imaging capture and computer vision. The result is a camera that moves without moving parts. Picture a crane shot with no crane, a rail cam with no rail, a dolly that never needs track laid. Muybridge has spent 2026 proving its platform in some of the highest-pressure venues in sport, going live in every deployment. CBS Sports deployed Muybridge at three PGA Tour events, where previously impossible camera angles amazed viewers at home by circling around the golfers as they teed off. MLB brought a never-before-seen shot to baseball: a moving camera angle in front of the batter at the 2026 Home Run Derby, streamed live on Netflix. Additional deployments with the NBA, NHL, and top football leagues such as Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and MLS, all introduce unique camera angles, underscoring the system's versatility in immersive broadcast.

The Horizon Platform has two parts. First, camera arrays with 4K sensors that can be daisy-chained as long as needed, capturing a scene from every sensor at once, and secondly, software named Vusion, Muybridge's computer vision algorithms running on modern GPUs which reconstruct the whole scene from the Horizon array in real time and deliver a broadcast-quality output for live TV. Camera movements are achieved in software, either manually via controllers or fully autonomously with Horizon's shotbox application, unlocking the ability to track and crosscut through the action in a flat straight line or a sweeping curve, holding sub-pixel accuracy on every frame.

GPUs running Vusion are connected to the camera arrays over fiber or 5G, so the processing can be based anywhere on site rather than beside the cameras - nothing moving on the field of play, nothing swinging over the crowd, nothing for the fans to look past. What comes out is broadcast-grade video that sits on the switcher like any other live camera: shade it, cut to it, and run it from the truck or from wherever the remote production already lives. Horizon can find any shot a director can imagine, circular or live, faster than any robocam or railcam, with a level of immersion previously unobtainable.
